Tour "Umbria and Sicily " 2010

10 days/ 9 nights

25 June: Orvieto                 

Arrive at Rome Airport and transfer to Orvieto country House. Get settled in your rooms and enjoy free time to relax around the country house or in their spa.  Cooking class in the late afternoon (about 2 hours) and dinner. Overnight

After breakfast depart for Rome. Full day tour. Free lunch. Late afternoon return to Orvieto, dinner and overnight at the house.

After breakfast we will depart for Spoleto, famous for the “Two Worlds Festival.”  We will continue towards Piediluco lake and visit the Marmore’s Falls (the tallest in Europe). Free lunch. In the afternoon, return to Orvieto, cooking class and free time to relax in the spa. Dinner and overnight.

Breakfast and depart for Perugia where you will visit the great “Arce Guefa”: it rises up in the region's heart. It is closed-in by its Etruscan town walls. These enormous bastions formed by compact square masses, were constructed 22 centuries ago and are still visible for long stretches.
Free lunch. In the afternoon, depart for Assisi and visit the famous Saint Francesco’s city, patron of Italy. Return to Orvieto, dinner and overnight.

Transfer to the Airport in Rome, flight to Palermo.

Transfer from the airport to the Agriturismo Villa Cefala’ and enjoy lunch.
Following lunch, meet with Alessia and start the Tour in Palermo: Catacombs, Zisa castle, Monreale and return in the evening to Palermo for a night tour of the heart of the city. First cooking class at the Villa, dinner and overnight.

30 June: Santa Flavia- Etna- Taormina- Santa Flavia

After breakfast, we will depart for Mount Etna, the tallest mountain in Sicily and the largest volcano in all of Europe.  The territory surrounding the volcano constitutes the “Park of Etna” and is one of the largest protected areas in Italy.  Our guests are always very surprised to see the great variety of vegetation and landscapes that we witness along the way.  We will continue our trip to Taormina, a picture perfect mountain town situated on a rocky plateau on the slopes of the steep Monte Tauro, overlooking the Ionian coast from Capo Sant’Andrea to Capo Taormina.  You will be free to eat lunch in a typical restaurant and to tour the world famous GreekTheatre, which has been featured in dozens of international advertisements.  It also happens to be the 2nd largest classical theatre in Sicily and is still used for performances to this day, or enjoy a free afternoon exploring the streets of the small city or relaxing to the wonderful beach of Isola Bella which you can reach with a panoramic “funivia”, the cableway.
In the evening we will return to the Agriturismo Villa Cefala’ where you will have dinner and Overnight.

1 July: Mondello-  Wine Way

After breakfast, depart for Mondello, one of the most famous Palermo beaches, famous for its elegant Liberty-style villas, its white sand and its crystal clear water. You will have from 9am to 1pm to enjoy the beach, the small town and discover some good restaurants or try the “brioscia con gelato” at the main square!
At 1pm we will take the bus to go back to our Agriturismo, relax and clean up.  In the afternoon, we will visit a winery. Dinner at the winery. Overnight at Villa Cefala’

2 July: Santa Flavia- Milazzo- Isole Eolie - Santa Flavia

After breakfast, depart for the Eolian’s Islands with a stop in Milazzo.  Depart from Milazzo at 9.30 am to reach Lipari and have three hours free in the Island, including a free lunch.  From Lipari we will board the boat and visit the “Faraglioni” and the Angel Cavity to arrive for a 2 hour stay in Vulcano’s island where we will visit the warm waters and the thermal mud. Around 6pm, we will board the boat to go back to Milazzo.  Depart for the Agriturismo.  Dinner and overnight.

3 July: Santa Flavia- Agrigento- Cefalu’- Santa Flavia

After breakfast, depart for Agrigento to visit the Valley of Temples.  We’ll admire the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concorde (one of the most well-preserved doric temples in all the old greek empire), the Temple of Ercules, the Temple of Castor and Pollux. This time we will bring a bag lunch with us so that after the Temple visit we can visit the White rocks beach to swim and relax.  Mid- to late-afternoon, depart for the small town of Cefalu’, famous for its Duomo Arabo-Normanno, one of the most beautiful churches in Sicily.  The Duomo was built by Ruggero II, the first King of Sicily.  Free dinner in Cefalu’.  After dinner return to the Agriturismo in Santa Flavia. Overnight.

4 July: Palermo Rome

After breakfast we will take you to the airport for outgoing flight.
