Tuscany's climate is truly ideal for a bicycle holiday. The best periods of the year for such holidays are from March to June and from September to November, although it is certainly possible to hope on your bike and tour through Tuscany any time of the year. There are actually excursions scheduled during the winter as the area around Pienza benefits from a mild climate.
The tours take place in the magnificent countryside around Siena and, more precisely, in the Val d'Orcia spanning the unlimited splendid scenery around Montalcino, Castiglione d'Orcia, Radicofani, San Quirico and Pienza.
It is also possible to organize excursions in other areas such as the Chianti Classico, Nobile di Montepulciano, Monte Amiata, Val di Merse around Siena, and all the way out to the Maremma at the seaside and the distant "castentinesi" woods. The areas around Siena, Grosseto and Arezzo prove to be the best for cycling holidays in Tuscany.
In the center of the Tuscany hills, near Siena, you'll discover the Natural and Cultural Artistic Park of the Val d'Orcia where life proceeds in a natural balance between nature, art ad culture. Its five Communes: Castiglione d'Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani and San Quirico d'Orcia are a real paradise for bike tourists who are geeted by hill criss-crossed with an endless variety of itineraries and possiblities for enkoying a cycling holiday

New this year: a series of excursions made up of relaxing paved roads together with dirt offroads which allow you to pedal along the ridges of hills in the Val d'Orcia and the "Crete Senesi". The hills are never too steep, and the distances vary from 40 km to 80 or 90 km for the more advanced cyclists. On these outings there will even be food and wine stops to sample the best of Brunello di Montalcino or Nobile di Montepulciano wine and various types of pecorino cheese.
