7 days of turistic cycling tour in 6 legs around the volcano through Historical roads.

Program
1st Day: Arrival and check into hotel in Nicolosi a small village on the slopes of Mt Etna.
2nd Day: Nicolosi - Adrano - Bronte Km. 44
Visit to Adrano: its historic centre and Norman Castle, ”The River Simeto Gorges” and the old “Saracen Bridge”.
Bronte: its historic centre and Pistachio Groves. Stay in a 3 - star hotel in Bronte.
3rd Day: Bronte - Maniace - Randazzo Km. 40
Maniace: Visit to the Castle of Admiral Oratio Nelson and to the ex-Medieval Church of S.Maria di Maniace.
Randazzo: A small town on the slopes of Mount Etna: its rich and interesting historic centre of Medieval origin. Stay in a 3 - star hotel in Randazzo.
4th Day: Randazzo - Verzella(Etna wine road) Alcantara Gorge-GiardiniNaxos. Km. 41
The ”Wine Road” is the area where Mt Etna’s wines are produced. Wine tasting is possible in a local vineyard.
Visit to the Alcantara River Gorges whose water cut through the lava. Stay in Giardini Naxos (hotel 3* or turistic resort 3* or similar)
5th Day: Giardini Naxos - Taormina Giardini Naxos. Km. 20
Chance to visit ancient Naxos, Sicily’s first Greek colony.
Visit to Taormina, a town important for its art and culture, defined the pearl of Sicily.You can visit the Greek Theatre, its main Street and the churches of different epochs.
6th Day: Giardini Naxos - Acireale - Acitrezza. Km. 42
Visit to Acireale and the Timpa Nature reserve Acireale: Town of Art and Baroque architecture. Acitrezza: Fishing villages. Overnight in 3 * Hotel.
7th Day: Breakfast. End of the Tour.

1st Day: Arrival and transport to B&B in Nicolosi. Tour presentation and dinner.
2nd Day: Etna High Mountain Track Km 5+37*(difference in altitude mt.736)
Excursion in Mt Etna’s national Park along a trail which takes you from the southern to the northern flanks of the volcano. Arrival and dinner at the mountain refuge in Linguaglossa’s Pine Woods.
3rd Day: Linguaglossa’s Pine Woods-Randazzo km 48+12*(difference in altitude mt.712)

Second excursion in the Etna Park. Visit to the 2002 eruption (lava front,craters and volcanic bombs).

4th Day: Randazzo-Floresta-Randazzo km 4+35*(difference in altitude mt.608)
First excursion in the Nebrodi Mountains’Park. From Randazzo to the highest town in Sicily, Floresta (1275 mt a.l.s.)
Return to the hotel in Randazzo and dinner.
5th Day: Randazzo- Trearie Lake-Maniace-Randazzo km 26+36*(difference in altitude mt 680)
Second excursion in the Nebrodi mountains, among woods and pastures at altitude.
In Maniace, you can visit Admiral Horatio Nelson’s Castle.
Return to the hotel in Randazzo and dinner.
6th Day: Randazzo-Alcantara Park-Giardini Naxos km 48 (difference in altitude mt 230)
In one of the best production areas of Etna’s d.o.c.wines.
Visit to the Alcantara River Gorges whose water cut through the lava. Stay in a 3 - star hotel in Giardini Naxos. Dinner.
7th Day: Giardini Naxos-Peloritani Mount-Taormina-Giardini Naxos km 49+7*(difference in altitude mt1.228)
Day in the Peloritani Mountains. Visit to Taormina Return to hotel in Giardini Naxos.
8th Day: Breakfast. End of the Tour

ZINGARO &  EGADI  ISLANDS

1st day: PALERMO-SCOPELLO
Arrival at the airport in Palermo and private transfer to Scopello. Not to lack a visit to the ancient Beam, rich of history, where inside we’ll find coffee shops and small shops with local ceramics. Accommodation and dinner.

2nd day:RISERVA DELLO ZINGARO   20.0 km/ 6hr   ( 0-500)
Your excursion will begin from the south income of  the Zingaro Natural Reserve where  a beautiful and suggestive walk will take us along the paths, with Mediterranean spot and charming groves. After many coves and wonderful panoramas, you will have the chance to have a bath. Your walk will go on admiring the colors of the sea and discovering charming panoramas the Gulf of Castellammare offers to you. Accommodation in Scopello.

3rd day:SCOPELLO –SEGESTA- MARETTIMO  5km /3hr (0-400)
This day is dedicated to archaeology, you will visit the archaeological area of Segesta, where the magnificent Theatre on the north slopes of Monte Barbaro. Downhill from the theatre,  stands the magnificent Temple, whose majestic appearance and dominating position bestow great nobility on the landscape. Later transfer to Trapani, where you will take the aliscafi to the island of Marettimo. Excursion in the afternoon to Punta Troia and its Castle. Accommodation in the island.

4th day: MARETTIMO  12.0 km /5 hr (0 -700)
Today excursion to Pizzo Falcone. You will walk for about two hours along the path that starts from the village till reaching the Case Romane, fortress of roman age. In front of it we will see a charming little church of the Byzantine period (X c.) and together we will reach a panoramic point for the ones who loves birdwatching. The ones who want to go on discovering the island, can do a minitour by boat with a local fisherman around the island to see the unapproachable coasts.

5th day:MARETTIMO- LEVANZO 7 km/ 3hr 30min ( 0-450)
Free day on the beautiful beach of Marettimo. Optional excursion to the island of Levanzo. It’s a short crossing to Levanzo where a coastal path bright with lilac scabious leads p past deserted stone farm houses and olive trees to the Grotta del Genovese which is to be booked. Time to admire the marvellously well preserved cave paintings and engravings dating from 11 C BC lining the cavern walls In the afternoon, you walk past dey stone decked with caper bushes to the harbour, returning to Marettimo

6th day:MARETTIMO-TRAPANI-ERICE
In the morning, departure for Trapani where you will continue our discovery of the unusual Sicily. Optional excursion to the medieval town of Erice, in the afternoon.

7th day: TRAPANI - MONTE COFANO- RESERVE 10 km/ 4hr (0-350)
Today excursion to the “Cofano Natural Reserve”. Mount Cofano, high 659 m, is one cape that separate two gulfs, that one of Cofano and that one of Bonagia. One of the main characteristics of this excursion is the coves that we meet gradually along the path. Of particular relief it is the Mangiapane cove in Scurati where old tools and graffiti of the Paleolitic period had been found.

8th day:TRAPANI-
Free time  to visit Trapani. : the Churches, the Old Palaces, the “Corallo Museum”.Transfer to Palermo airport and end of our services.

Duration: 8 days/7 nights
Terrain charachteristics : hilly and coastal difference in height between 0 and 700 mt; average duration of the stages between 3 and 6 hours walking. It is advisable being medium fit.
